Welcome to Play Therapy!
Play is the most natural way for children to explore their world...
Play therapy is an opportunity for children to better understand their experiences and communicate their thoughts and feelings, through therapist-guided play activities that facilitate joyful interaction and self-regulation of emotions and behavior.
"What does play therapy look like?"
Depending on your child's interests, play therapy can take a variety of forms, such as: dance-and-movement activities, singing, drawing or coloring, storytelling, pretend play, and interactive games.
Generally your child can choose from a variety of play materials, including: percussive instruments, art supplies, puppets, miniature figures, and social board games, as well as objects found in nature, like twigs and shells. Given the current shift to a virtual platform, many play therapy materials have been adapted to provide on-line remote accessibility to a wide variety of therapeutic play activities.
Play therapy can be provided through individual sessions, parent-child sessions, and/or sibling sessions. My sessions are designed for children ages 2 to 12, as well as for teenagers with special needs.
